Did you know its Grandparents day this Sunday, September 11th? My Grandpa (my mom’s dad) just died this week and it brought back all kinds of memories of him and my grandma from my childhood. My Grandma died 1 year after I got married. She never got to meet any of my children, and they didn’t get a chance to meet her either. They didn’t get the chance to see what a wonderful woman she was and how much she would have loved them.

I quickly called my nana (my dad’s mom) and told her I was coming to visit right away and spent several hours at her house this weekend just talking. I want to make sure my kids know her well. It really makes you scared to think there may not be too many years left.

I had a client want to include the newborn’s baby’s 4 grandparents into the photo. I was excited and happy to offer this for their family. However when the day came all the schedules didn’t line up well and only 1 grandma was there. She was reluctant to get her photo taken. She didn’t want anyone to be jealous or upset with her. She wasn’t wearing the right clothing or had done her makeup. Her daughter and I convinced her to get behind the camera. I told her my Photoshop skills could easily add a soft touch of makeup for the portraits with her baby. I also told her I had a client closet full of beautiful dresses she was welcome to use.

These are the resulting images. How special will these be for all there of these women in the years to come?
