Yep that's right, I took my newborn's portraits myself! They got better over the years as I became a better photographer and gained more experienced. But, I had to set a timer and run in and out of the frame for the family moments. My family images are pretty posed and look forced. It was hard to recreate intentional moments with the timer. I would give anything to go back in time and have a photographer come to my home those early days and just document my family. I miss those years so much!!

You will not be looking at my camera during this session. I'm going to encourage you to play, snuggle, and enjoy your family and new baby. Expect images with emotion, intention, and authentic moments.
What kind of photographs should we expect?
Lifestyle photography is meant to capture candid, natural moments. This style creates a feeling vs a posed family portrait. Its great for newborn sessions because it captures this moment in time that you want to remember how it felt not necessarily how you looked.
What does lifestyle mean?
I suggest staying with soft neutral colors and clothing. Clothing with texture like knit always look good. Think cream or tan sweaters, cream lounge sets, waffle /thermal shirts, etc. Try to keep the color pallet very boring and soft to keep the focus on your faces. Avoid bold patterns, colors, and logos. I'll send you a guide to help you shop your closet store or even Amazon.
What should I wear?
If you love being at home, if you want your images to feel cozy and warm, if you want your images to look like memories not sets lifestyle newborn photography is for you!
Why should I pick this session over a studio session?
Your homes doesn't have to be perfect. It is meant to represent you and your family! I personally don't like clutter or messy backgrounds. I would want you to feel most comfortable and feel at ease. You can even grab a basket or two and just grab all the clutter and things that are out of place.
How do I prepare my home for a photo shoot?
I will want to use the best natural lighting you have in your home along with the least busy backgrounds. No room is guaranteed to be the spot for shooting. I will assess which location is the best when I arrive. I will mostly likely want to shoot in the nursery, family room, or the master bedroom.
