Eloping can be less stressful than a traditional wedding

Planning your Arizona elopement day can be such an exciting process. I talk a lot about how eloping can be less stressful than a big traditional wedding day. But you still may have some concerns or worries about things that can throw a wrench in your plans.

Arizona Monsoon Rain

In Arizona the weather is pretty mild most of the year. We do get hot weather that’s for sure, but we don’t get tornados, hurricanes, or even many snow storms. However, in July-August, we do get the most wonderful monsoons! Monsoon season is a treasured time for us living in southern Arizona. It brings much needed relief from the 100+ degree temperatures. The monsoons here are powerful storms and can cause flooding and thunderstorms. But good news, it usually blows in then blows out. We rarely have a “rainy day.” So if you arrive and we have an expected monsoon in the afternoon it’s really not a big deal. They typically are very localized and we can change to our backup location instead. Or we can wait it out and head out afterwards. We could even rearrange your day and do the vows/ceremony in the morning instead of the evening if we need to. One bonus, is the monsoons create a beautiful sky painting. If you are looking for that classic Arizona sunset look, then monsoons season is your friend.

Pictured below is a couple that decided to just go with it! It had been raining earlier that day and we worried there would be lightning up on the mountain. I watched the weather and decided the threat had moved more south and the mountain seemed out of the storm. We started the hour drive with it still sprinkling. But by the time we made it to the top of the mountain the storm was long gone. You can see it here in the background. It turned out perfectly and created this jaw dropping sky.

A rainy day can’t ruin Arizona Elopement

What if it’s not monsoon rain, and it’s just a rainy day? Lucky for us that rarely happens here in Arizona. But that still isn’t something to stress about. Imagine you are planning a big traditional wedding and the forecast predicts rain! How do you change a venue? How do you keep all your guest dry? Will it ruin the decorations, food, and party? Yikes!!

Arizona Elopements usually are just the two of you. If it starts to rain, we can embrace it. There is no need to stress. Remember those old romantic movies with the couples kissing in the rain. It really is romantic don’t you think? You don’t have a wedding party or grandmother to worry about, you don’t have a catered buffet getting soggy. Its just you and your partner making memories. If it does rain and we can’t avoid it, I imagine you will be reminded of your rainy elopement day every time it rains.
