Isn’t it weird to have your photos on the walls?
Decorating my home with portraits of my loved ones is my favorite! It surrounds me with my favorite people. It helps me remember to put them first, to pay attention, and so show my love for them as well. I keep hearing from a “designer perspective” you should never put photos of your family on the wall, save that for photo albums and your bedroom…… WHAT!!! That is so dumb. I want my home to be filled with things that make me happy, feel at peace, and are enjoyable for my family. So yes I decorate with family portraits and I think you should too.
Where should I hang my portraits?
That’s easy, everywhere! Just kidding, it may be weird to have a photo staring you down in the bathroom for example. I personally think the living room is the best place. Entry ways, and hall ways are a perfect spot for fun gallery walls, even a nursery! In my bedroom I have photos of my husband and I alone at one of our family sessions.
How do I design a gallery wall?
Pinterest is a great way to find ideas. Or ask your photographer for help. I offer a special service for my clients. We can design a virtual gallery using actual images of their walls to create the perfectly sized gallery. We will see different sizes and arrangements before ever having to put holes in the walls or order any wall art. I know the correct sizes that match together and available with the professional labs.
I also have several predesigned examples shown below that are popular options.
1. Six image Gallery
This is a great gallery for images that are both tall and wide.
2. Wide Gallery
This gallery fits perfectly above a couch or down a hallway.
3. Grid Gallery
This is a great gallery when there are too many to choose from. These also are all pretty small in size.
4. Three Round Gallery
This is such a fun gallery that looks modern and unique.
5. Simple Gallery
This one is perfect for newborn sessions with siblings. One for the family shot, one for sibling shot, and one of the baby!
I have so many more ideas, let me help you create the wall gallery that works best for you and your photography session.
